“I am grateful to everyone for adopting a joint statement of support for granting Ukraine candidate EU membership status,” Zelensky said at a joint briefing with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazovich in Kyiv.
“Our countries must be full members of the EU and we agree that our powers are not competitors on this European path, but are only enhancing each other’s capabilities,” he said.
“This meeting shows the support of the prime ministers, and therefore the people, for our territorial integrity, our sovereignty, our course towards full membership in the European Union, as well as the need to be accountable all the Russian war criminals in what they have. committed against Ukraine on our land and against Europe, “continued Zelensky.
“We agree that more assistance to Ukraine should be an effective tactical response to Russia’s aggression. The seventh package of sanctions should be as tangible for the aggressor’s state as the previous six combined,” he added. .
Rama said the countries in the Western Balkans will restore residential buildings in Irpin.
“We see with our own eyes Irpin and Borodyanka. I am glad you agreed with our proposal to combine our efforts and build a quarter or separate houses in Irpin from our countries … We want do it the Balkan way without unnecessary bureaucracy, ”the Albanian prime minister said.
As reported, the European Commission conducted a preliminary debate on the applications of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia for granting candidate status for EU membership. According to media reports, applications of Ukraine and Moldova will be approved with conditions.
The European Commission is expected to make a decision on the countries ’applications on June 17. But EU leaders will discuss the issue next week.
