Since the start of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, any trade with the aggressor country has been prohibited. The exception is gas transit.

The Cabinet of Ministers extended the ban on the import of goods originating in Russia to Ukraine for another year. This was announced by the representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk on Telegram on Friday, December 22.

Resolution No. 1147 of December 30, 2015 “On the ban on the import of goods originating from the Russian Federation into the customs territory of Ukraine” was extended until December 31, 2024. (included).

The government also extended the validity of Decree No. 1146 of December 30, 2015 “On import duty rates for goods originating in the Russian Federation” until December 31, 2024.

As you know, in December 2015, the government adopted two resolutions to restrict trade with Russia. This happened due to the fact that Russia unilaterally terminated the CIS Free Trade Agreement with Ukraine on January 1, 2016, and therefore import duties began to apply to goods of Ukrainian origin.

In particular, Resolution No. prohibited 1147 the wide range of Russian goods, both industrial and food.

Established by Resolution No. 1146 are the import duty rates for importing goods whose country of origin is the Russian Federation.

Both documents continue every December.

Since the start of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, any trade with the aggressor country has been prohibited. The exception is gas transit. Current transit agreement between Naftogaz and Russian Gazprom completed at the end of 2019 for five years. Despite the war, Ukraine allows Russian gas to pass through its territory to Austria, Slovakia, Italy and Hungary.

Let’s remember that in early December, President Vladimir Zelensky adopted new sanctions against Russia. Restrictions were introduced against 185 foreigners, mostly citizens of the Russian Federation. The list also includes 181 companies registered in Russia.
