The funds will be used for immediate and priority recovery and social care needs.
The state budget of Ukraine received more than $950 million from Japan as part of World Bank projects for reconstruction and social protection. The Ministry of Finance announced this on Thursday, December 21.
The funding consists of a $52.4 million Japanese grant through the Home Improvement for People’s Empowerment (HOPE) project and a $900 million loan from the Japanese government through Investing in Social Protection to Improve Coverage, Resilience and efficiency” (INSPIRE) .
It is indicated that the funds will be used to reimburse the costs of the state budget of Ukraine for urgent and priority needs, especially in the field of reconstruction and social assistance.
It was previously reported that Japan will also allocate about $4.5 billion to Ukraine for the country’s post-war reconstruction.
It was also learned that Japan has launched a new program to support Ukrainians fleeing the war.
