The company produces many products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but this is actually piece production in their free time from their main job. For industrial scale, a government order is needed, said the head of Metinvest.
Metinvest is ready to assign additional capacity and supply the military with products in the required quantity if the state makes an order and provides support. Its general director, Yuri Ryzhenkov, said this in an interview.
“We produce many products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine – mobile dugouts for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, mine trawls and other equipment. However, today we cannot say that this work is carried out in a industry scale. In fact, we do it in our free time from our main job. We have built 8 mine trawls. and the army needs hundreds,” he said.
According to Ryzhenkov, the Ukrainian military-industrial complex would grow faster if private companies were more involved in it.
“After all, if the company receives an order from the state, it will open new production facilities, hire employees and produce the same mine trawls in the volumes required by the state. I hope that Alexander Kamyshin (Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine – editor’s note), Rustem Umerov (Minister of Defense of Ukraine – editor’s note) will join private companies in the military-industrial complex. I am not talking about the production of tanks , we cannot do that. But what we can do, we are ready to do in the necessary volumes,” said the head of Metinvest.
Let’s recall that at the end of October it was reported that the company Metinvest began to produce mine trawls mounted on tanks. Before this, it became known that this company of Akhmetov established the production of “Lancet catchers” – engineering shelter structures to protect military equipment from attacks by enemy drones, as well as the production of mock-ups of distracting military equipment. of the Russians from the real thing.
