Stepien’s lawyer Kevin Marino confirmed that the “family emergency” mentioned in the statement meant Stephen’s wife had already given birth.
“Mr. Stephen was in town preparing for a call to testify today when he was told that his wife had gone to the maternity ward,” Marino told reporters.

Miller detailed the incident when Matt Ochkovsky, a Trump campaign insider, called Trump the day after the election and told him he had lost, based on reported results.
“I remember he gave the president a pretty poor condition, which he lost,” Miller told the committee.
Stepien currently works as a consultant for Harriet Hegeman, who takes Cheney to Wyoming. He is expected to testify at Monday’s hearing, along with Republican attorney Ben Ginsberg, who is considered an election expert, and Chris Striwalt, former Fox News political editor.
