The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the US Department of Agriculture signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of agriculture. This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian department on Tuesday, June 14.

It was indicated that Ukraine and the United States are working to strengthen cooperation in the agricultural and food sector, develop a strong strategic partnership to address food security issues.
“To achieve these goals, the parties agreed to cooperate and exchange information in the field of crop and animal production, including agricultural statistics, exchange of data on climate conditions to increase productivity, as well. to also inform food security needs and provide support in conditions of limited resources and disruption in the supply chain. ”, the message said.
As part of the memorandum, the USDA plans to continue The Cochran Fellowship Program in Ukraine. Also, the memorandum will help improve communication on bilateral trade issues.
In addition, the parties discussed the transformation of agri-food systems against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine.
Recall that Ukraine expects to harvest this year 50 million tons of grain and 15 million tons of oilseeds. This forecast was voiced by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotsky.
It should be noted that, including oilseeds, last year’s harvest reached 106.5 million tons. In 2022, before the war, a repeat of the record harvest was predicted.
