A man won $30 million after buying 50,000 tickets with the same number in a recent drawing.

A resident of the city of Nanchang, located in China’s eastern Jiangxi province, won 220 million Chinese yuan (30 million US dollars). Casino.org reported this.

In particular, the man, whose name remains unknown, invested 100 thousand yuan (13,970 US dollars) in the purchase of Happy 8 lottery tickets. All tickets have the same number. So when they hit the lottery, each ticket brought in a profit of 4,475 yuan (about $625), ending up a big win.

It didn’t take long for the winner to get this life-changing amount. Just a few days later, he went to the local lottery headquarters in Jiangxi to claim his prize.

The story reportedly sparked heated debate online. Some have speculated that it was the result of a massive fraud, perhaps even by the government, to drum up interest in the lottery, which funds public programs.

It was previously reported that a resident of Massachusetts in the USA, Desiree Fortini-Craft, won a lottery scratch ticket for the second time.
