The number of Ukrainian entrepreneurs in Poland is growing

Since the beginning of 2023, more than 2,000 Ukrainian sole proprietorships have been created in Poland. Ukrainian companies account for 67% of all new foreign businesses.

In Poland, the number of foreigners engaged in non-agricultural business activities is increasing. Almost half of them have Ukrainian citizenship. This was reported by tvp.pl.

The Polish Social Insurance Office ZUS, where business contributions are paid, counts the number of foreigners running their own businesses in the country. It is known that more than 46 thousand foreigners are engaged in non-agricultural business activities. Among them, about 47% indicated Ukrainian citizenship.

In ZUS, entrepreneurs with citizenship of at least 120 countries declare business. The most active is from Ukraine. 21.6 thousand ZUS payers indicated Ukrainian citizenship. For several months now, the self-employment (SE) category has been growing in this group. Just a year ago, Ukrainians made up a third of foreign entrepreneurs.

The second largest group showing initiative in private entrepreneurship are Belarusians – 9,034 people, in third place are entrepreneurs with Vietnamese citizenship (1,154 applications). There are slightly fewer entrepreneurs with Russian (1030) and German (918) citizenship.

By 2022, Ukrainians will create almost 16 thousand sole proprietorships (PEs) in Poland. In the first six months of 2023, almost the same amount was added. Mainly – in the field of construction, information and communication, services (85% – hairdressing and beauty services).

It is noted that since the beginning of 2023, the creation of more than 2,000 Ukrainian sole proprietorships has been observed in Poland. Ukrainian companies account for 67% of all new foreign businesses and 10% of all companies created in the first half of 2023.

In the past it was reported that most Ukrainian refugees work in Poland – 65%. Refugees from Ukraine integrate into the labor markets of host countries faster than other refugee groups.

And more than 286 thousand children from Ukraine study in educational institutions in Poland. About two-thirds of Ukrainian schoolchildren and students came to Poland after the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine.
