Bloomberg said Washington backed the letters with sanctions against certain vessels and their owners.
The US Treasury has sent letters warning of imprisonment in the case of violation of the price ceiling for Russian oil to 30 companies that control up to hundreds of oil tankers. Bloomberg reports this in connection with copies of these letters and information from the managers of the two insurance companies.
“The US Treasury Department requested extensive information and documentation about the shipments and the organizations involved. The Treasury Department threatened imprisonment if the recipients did not comply fully,” the report said.
US authorities backed the letters with sanctions against certain vessels and their owners, most of which belong to the Russian tanker company Sovcomflot.

Let’s remember that the Reuters news agency reported that Russian oil workers began to experience difficulties in finding tankers for their barrels after the United States began to impose sanctions against ” shadow fleet” of the Kremlin and launched an investigation covering three dozen ship carriers around the world.
