At the Vyshne Nemetskoe – Uzhgorod border crossing, a congestion of trucks heading to Ukraine has already been recorded.
Slovak carriers said they could join their Polish colleagues and block Ukrainian carriers from crossing the border on their side. This was stated in a letter from the Union of Road Carriers of Slovakia (UNAS) to the country’s Ministry of Transport.
The blockade will take place if the European Commission does not restore the issuance of commercial transport permits within the European Union. Carriers believe that the ministry has not paid attention to cargo transportation for a long time and is completely ignoring the problem.
“We would like to invite you to a meeting to discuss the problems with Ukrainian carriers that do not require transport permits. We would like to note that Slovak cargo transport is on its knees. As you can see, the carriers of Poland is their border because they have the same problem, as our carriers,” the letter said.
Slovak media began to report about the congestion of trucks bound for Ukraine at the Vysne Nemecke – Uzhgorod border crossing.
We remind you that on November 6, a strike by Polish carriers began on the Polish-Ukrainian border, demanding the abolition of the visa-free transport regime for Ukraine. Polish carriers block the movement of trucks at checkpoints Korchova – Krakovets, Grebennoye – Rawa-Russkaya, Dorogusk – Yagodin.
On November 13, Ukraine held negotiations with Poland to lift the border blockade, but no agreement was reached.
