Annual inflation in Russia set a new record – 6.99%. In the first week of November alone, the consumer price index jumped 0.42%.
Inflation in Russia at the end of October accelerated to 6.69% year-on-year (compared to October last year) from 6% at the end of September. This was reported by the press service of Rosstat.
Since the beginning of the year, consumer prices in the Russian Federation have increased by 5.47%, including 0.83% in the previous month.
The prices that increased significantly throughout the year in Russia were chicken (by 26.8%), fruit and vegetables (by 23.99%), eggs (by 23.88%), fish (by 8.3%) , sugar (7.64%).
The Moscow Times wrote that the growth of annual inflation in Russia has set a new record since the beginning of the year, amounting to 6.99%, and in the first week of November alone, the consumer price index jumped by 0.42%.
Inflation data turned out to be “very negative,” Russian analysts said.
Although after the introduction of currency controls the ruble was able to push from the “bottom”, the dollar and euro are still worth almost 40% more than at the beginning of the year – 91.85 and 98.15 rubles, respectively.
In just the week from October 31 to November 7, the consumer price index jumped 0.42% – the same as in the whole of November last year. “And the annual inflation has set a new record since February – 6.99%,” the publication emphasizes.
It was previously reported that inflation in Russia may exceed the Central Bank’s September forecast of 6-7%.
Meanwhile, according to the State Statistics Service, in Ukraine, annual inflation in October slowed to 5.3% from 7.1% in September and 8.6% in August.
At the end of October, the National Bank of Ukraine improved its inflation forecast by the end of 2023 from 10.6 to 5.8%. At the same time, the NBU raised its inflation forecast for 2024 – from 8.5 to 9.8%.
