Plans are being developed to improve freight transportation in the direction of Reni – Giurgiulesti – Galati, and back, reports the Moldovan railway operator.
Train operators in Ukraine, Romania and Moldova have developed plans to improve freight transportation in the direction of Reni – Giurgiulesti – Galati, and back. This was reported by the Moldovan state railway operator Calea Ferat din Moldova.
It was reported that during the trilateral meeting, the operators agreed on the continuous passage of the Reni station, coordination of traffic volumes five days before their implementation, the transfer of complete combined trains of 50-60 cars (from Moldova to Romania), trilateral exchange of information on the movement of vehicles and daily processing capacity of Galak reception terminals, as well as integration of Galak reception terminals with AS Mesplan.
“Implementation of such actions will provide a number of advantages, in particular, thanks to it, the throughput of the Giurgiulesti-Galati checkpoint will increase three times, the travel time of vehicles between the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania will be reduced by two to three days and transportation costs will be reduced,” the Moldovan summed up the operator of the meeting.
Earlier it was reported that metallurgists criticized the efficiency of Ukrzaliznytsia. The President of the association of enterprises Ukrmetallurgprom Alexander Kalenkov said that Ukrzaliznytsia does not work to increase transport volumes and develop services, therefore these volumes are constantly falling and under such conditions, the company’s increase in transportation tariffs will have no effect.
Remind us that recently information appeared about the intention of Ukrzaliznytsia to increase tariffs for cargo transportation by 20%. As of July 2022, the company has already increased tariffs by 70% – this led to an increase in the cost of Ukrainian products and a reduction in the volume of enterprise production, even in conditions where exporters do not have alternative routes.
