He remembered that as a result of the war Metinvest lost control of two large plants in Mariupol and suspended production in Avdiivka.
“Currently, our metallurgical enterprises are full at 65-75% of capacity, and mining and processing plants – at 35-40%. These and other challenges that we continue to overcome forced us to build again our business to survive,” Dankova said.
According to him, the load at the Krivoy Rog mining and processing plants decreased due to the inability to export iron ore raw materials to the sea. Exports are carried out by crossing the western border to European buyers, but their volumes are significantly lower than in pre-war times.
“The distance to the ports of the EU is three times greater than the distance to the Black Sea ports of Ukraine. And this means an increase in the cost of logistics by 4-6 times compared to the indicators before the war. Against on this background, the dynamics of rent payments are decreasing. If in 2022. Metinvest paid 3.2 billion UAH for the use of subsoil, then for 9 months of this year – 1.5 billion UAH,” stressed Dankova.
The finance director said that despite the difficulties, the company has refused the tax benefits to which it is legally entitled and is paying taxes in full. As a result, within nine months of this year Metinvest replenished the budgets of six cities of presence by more than UAH 2 billion: Krivoy Rog received UAH 750 million in taxes, Zaporozhye – UAH 640 million, Kamenskoye – UAH 524 million, Pokrovsk – UAH 242 million, Avdiivka – UAH 9 million.
Total Metinvest for the nine months of 2023, almost UAH 11 billion in taxes and fees were transferred to the budgets of all levels in Ukraine.
