Law enforcement officials have liquidated a clandestine oil refinery that produces fake gasoline and supplies it to gas station chains.
The Security Service, together with the Bureau of Economic Security, eliminated a large-scale scheme for the illegal production and sale of fuel in Transcarpathia. A deputy of the regional council, the godfather of Viktor Medvedchuk, who is suspected of treason, is involved in this. The SBU press service reported this on Thursday, October 26.
It was noted that a representative of the regional council, which in a criminal environment has the status of a criminal authority, was involved in arranging the deal. He was a longtime ally and godfather of Medvedchuk, and therefore for a long time he headed the regional cell of the banned OPZZH party.
According to media reports, we are talking about Transcarpathian deputy Ivan Chubirko.
According to the SBU, to hide his attitude to illegal business, a deputy of the regional council, on the eve of a full-scale Russian invasion, “transferred” the refinery to a company he controlled in Kyiv.
The director of this company organized the illegal sale of diesel fuel of dubious quality from the production facilities of an oil refinery under his control in Mukachevo.
Subsequently, participants in the scheme buy oil from Ukrainian suppliers of raw materials and process it at the plant. Then the finished products are sold in gas station networks in Kyiv, Transcarpathian, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions without permits or taxpayers.

To implement the transaction, its organizers entered false information in the financial, economic and reporting documentation. During searches of the clandestine refinery, more than 600 tons of fuel and equipment for its production were discovered, totaling almost 150 million hryvnias.
Found in the defendants’ offices:
-
computers, cell phones, documents and rough notes containing evidence of illegal activity;
-
seals of companies involved in criminal procedure;
-
cash in various currencies for a total amount of 3.3 million in hryvnia equivalent.
Proceedings began under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
-
illegal production of excisable goods;
-
tax evasion on a particularly large scale.
The perpetrators face up to five years in prison.
Let’s recall that earlier the SBU reported suspicion of Medvedchuk’s henchman, the former host of his TV channels and the leader of the Union of Left Forces political party banned in Ukraine, Maxim Goldarb.
Four other accomplices of the former people’s representative received prison sentences for preparing a violent seizure of power in Ukraine.
