The agreements provide for the supply of approximately 3.5 million tons of liquefied gas per year to the terminal in the port of Rotterdam.

QatarEnergy and Shell have signed two long-term sales agreements for the supply of up to 3.5 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year from Qatar to the Netherlands. The Qatari company announced this on October 18.

The LNG will be supplied to the Gate LNG terminal located in the port of Rotterdam, starting in 2026 for 27 years.

The gas volume will come from two joint ventures, QatarEnergy and Shell, which hold stakes in Qatar’s North Field East (NFE) and North Field South (NFS) expansion projects.

Shell has a 6.25% interest in the 32 million tonne per year NFE project and a 9.375% interest in the 16 million tonne per year NFS project.

We remind you that British Shell received a record profit in 2022 – $39.9 billion.

The situation on the gas market provides grounds for “cautious optimism” – IEA
