Ukraine is running trial emergency synchronization mode with ENTSO-E and will be able to supply power to Europe.
Transmission system operators in Continental Europe have approved the resumption of electricity exports from Ukraine, Ukrenergo reports on Wednesday, June 8th.
“Today, Ukraine’s energy system operates in trial emergency synchronization mode with ENTSO-E, which means that export-import operations with European counterparties are not performed. However, both Ukrainian and European sides are considering the possibility of a phased increase in export volume, which will be mutually beneficial, “the message said.
Ukrenergo sees the start of electricity exports to Europe as an opportunity to provide additional liquidity to the electricity market and generate additional revenues.
“Under conditions of martial law and active combat, it will be difficult for the Ukrainian energy sector to maintain pre-war financial indicators. Consequently, the start of electricity exports could be an economical one. alternatives to new loans and credits, “the company notes.
Ukraine believes that the supply of low-carbon electricity from Ukraine will significantly enhance energy security in the regions of Central and Eastern Europe and may reduce their dependence on the Russian Federation.
It was noted that in order to initiate a gradual increase in net export capacity, six technical requirements need to be met for approval by the Continental Europe Regional Group.
“Such measures are necessary to ensure the stability of the interconnected grid and increase the ability to cool low-frequency vibrations,” Ukrenergo said.
At the same time, the company noted that they are working and will continue to work on the implementation of technical measures necessary for the transition from trial mode to continuous synchronization and the launch of a full export of electricity from Ukraine.
Recall that Ukraine was disconnected from the energy system of Russia and Belarus on February 24 – the day of the Russian invasion. And on March 16 it was attached to the European.
