The value of the order is in the low three-digit range of millions of euros, with deliveries scheduled for 2024.
The German government has awarded a large order to arms company Rheinmetall for the supply of 155mm artillery ammunition under an existing framework contract. Tens of thousands of L15 shells will be transferred to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. This was reported by the press service of the concern.
Rheinmetall was also to supply conventional 155mm Assegai shells to the German army.
The value of the order is in the low three-digit range of millions of euros, with deliveries scheduled for 2024.
Earlier in July, Rheinmetall announced the signing of a new framework agreement on artillery ammunition with the Bundeswehr until 2029 and an extension of the existing agreement (potentially worth around 1.2 billion euros). The contracts provide for the supply of several hundred thousand shells, fuses and propellant charges.
As the company noted, the large-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine “forced the armed forces of many countries to replenish ammunition reserves” and in this context, the concern has already received many large order for artillery ammunition.
Rheinmetall is already involved in several projects in support of Ukraine. This includes supplies of Marder infantry fighting vehicles, ammunition of various calibers, field hospitals, military trucks and, in the near future, the LUNA Next Generation reconnaissance system. The company is also a partner in many multilateral Ringtausch agreements (support for Ukraine in cooperation with Germany’s European neighbors and NATO partners).
We remind you that Rheinmetall transferred anti-drone systems to Ukraine.
Earlier, Rheinmetall confirmed the delivery of the new generation LunaNG air reconnaissance system to Ukraine by the end of 2023.
