The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance expects $3.3 billion from the United States in 2023 and $12-14 billion in 2024.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance hopes to use the temporary US budget in the near future and receive another $3.3 billion by the end of this year to cover the Ukrainian state budget deficit. This was announced by the Minister of Finance Sergei Marchenko, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to him, in 2024 the Ministry of Finance wants to receive state budget funding from the United States at this year’s level. “At least this year: somewhere from 12 billion to 14 billion dollars. This is what we have developed,” said the minister.
However, according to Marchenko, there is still a lot of uncertainty in this regard.
“We hope that both in 2023 and in 2024 we will be with the United States,” added the head of the Ministry of Finance.
The minister noted that, in addition to the United States, we are talking about help from the EU, the IMF, as well as individual countries – Japan, Canada, Great Britain, and possibly Norway.
This year, the United States gave Ukraine 8.5 billion hryvnias in grants, while last year it was 12 billion hryvnias.
The total funding of the state budget this year reached 29.7 billion hryvnias as of September 5, compared to 32.1 billion hryvnias for the whole of last year.
According to the minister, state budget expenditures in 2024 will not be lower than this year, including in defense, which means that external financing will be required at a level not lower than this year – 42 billion hryvnias.
Earlier it became known that the European Commission is discussing the allocation of 50 billion euros to Ukraine. We are talking about a financial reserve for the needs of our country for the next four years in the form of loans and grants.
