Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hesitate to back down from the NRA’s two biggest apologists: Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.
A gunman killed 19 children and two Texas elementary school teachers days before an armed group meeting in Houston, but that didn’t stop the former Texas president or current senator from attending and speaking.
Kimmel separated the couple for attending an “unconscious encounter,” and mentioned that Cruz was taken to the restaurant prior to the event for a gun control measure.
Ted Cruz should know that all insects spit out food now, right? said Kimmel. “Maybe that’s what he wants to eat out, I don’t know, but a hope that Ted Cruz can’t eat safely at a restaurant.”
Instead of talking about the assassin’s legal purchase of military-grade assault rifles a few days after his 18th birthday, Cruz called for door control and requested that schools have only one entrance .
“Speak like a real button,” Kimmel said.
“Wouldn’t it be embarrassing if people started building old doors on Ted Cruz’s lawn?” Kimmel added. “Oh, I don’t want to see him.” Imagine if there were so many doors in front of his door, he couldn’t get out. ”
Trump also spoke at an NRA event where mass shootings were blamed on mental illness and broken families rather than access to weapons of assault.
“Right, the mad Narcissus, who has children with three different women, lectured us about mental illness and collapsed houses,” Kimmel said.
