The Turkish company Baykar has signed an export and cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia. This contract is the largest export contract in the history of Turkey in the defense and aerospace industries, said in a company message.
“By signing the largest defense and aerospace export agreement in the history of our country with Saudi Arabia, we also entered into a Technology Localization Agreement for Bayraktar AKINCI of SAMI Defense (a subsidiary of the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund , – ed.),” Baykar reported.
It is noted that Turkish companies ASELSAN and ROKETSAN have also signed agreements.
According to TRT Haber, at the signing ceremony, Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar announced the company’s willingness to share the technology. According to him, the signed contracts are not only a business opportunity for the company, but also the realization of Turkey’s interests in the defense sector.
“We have shared and continue to share innovative technologies, including Bayraktar AKINCI. The development of such a high-tech platform as Bayraktar AKINCI is undoubtedly very important. Bayraktar AKINCI is not a standard weapon or aircraft. It is a smart flying robot equipped with dozens of computers, tens of thousands of lines of code and artificial intelligence… We are arranging the necessary steps for the project with Saudi institutions, regulators and local industry Arabia,” he said.
In the past, the media wrote that Saudi Arabia wants to buy Baykar.
It was also reported that Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar announced the timing of the launch of a drone production plant in Ukraine. It will produce Bayraktar TB2 and Akinci devices.
