Changes in marginal price restrictions in the electricity market will not lead to a significant increase in prices for businesses, predicts Olga Babiy.
The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NEURC) does not expect a significant increase in the cost of electricity for businesses due to changes in price restrictions in the energy market. About it live Ukrainian radio Olga Babiy, a member of NEURC, said.
“Yesterday they did not raise the tariffs for businesses, they only changed the marginal restrictions (price caps, – ed.). If we calculate, in one day, all 24 hours, how to calculate the price per hour, we do not expect a significant increase in the cost of electricity for the business,” he said.
Babiy added that these changes will allow energy companies operating during peak hours to build fuel reserves. It will also allow electricity to be imported during peak hours to prevent blackouts.
He noted that after the change of price caps, the state Energoatom sold his resource for July, and there was no significant change in price.
“Growth occurred within the range of 8-9%. That is, the fact that NEURC raised tariffs yesterday is not true,” Babiy insisted.
Recall that this week NEURC set new marginal prices in the wholesale electricity market from June 30. The upper marginal price increased the most during peak consumption at night – from 19:00 to 23 :00.
And from June 1, the Cabinet of Ministers raised electricity tariffs for the population – up to 2.64 UAH / kWh.
