The role of the euro is becoming increasingly important in the structure of foreign exchange settlements of Ukraine, the NBU noted.
The amount of foreign currency cash imported by Ukrainian banks in May 2023 amounted to $823 million. This is $11 million more than in April. This was reported by the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine.
At the same time, the volume of cash euros increased significantly: from 41 million to 117 million in dollar terms.

According to the NBU, $93 million was withdrawn from Ukraine in May, which was $53 million more than in April.

Recall that in the interbank foreign exchange market last week both demand for money and supply grew.
Since the beginning of 2023, the NBU has already sold about $12 billion in the interbank market. However, these costs are covered by international aid.
