The participants of the Ukraine Business Compact 2023 are committed to adhere to the main principles of supporting Ukraine’s long-term sustainable economic recovery.
Metinvest Group joined the UN initiative for the recovery of Ukraine and signed the Ukraine Business Compact 2023, an international memorandum containing the principles of a long-term sustainable economic recovery of Ukraine. This was announced yesterday by the company’s press service.
“Now the victory of our country in the war is the number one goal. And then Metinvest will do everything in its power to rebuild the state and make it better. We are sure that the participation of the mining and metallurgical industry in this process will be one of the keys,” said Yury Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest Group.
It is indicated that the hub for the Ukraine Business Compact 2023, which brings together the leaders of the national business community, is the UN Global Compact (GC) in Ukraine.
The report clarifies that if earlier the principles initiated and presented at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2023 were signed only by international companies that would be investors in the restoration of Ukraine, now Ukrainian companies are also joining it with the help of the UN GC in Ukraine.
The Ukraine Business Compact 2023 aims to create an entire ecosystem for the restoration of Ukraine. The participants, for their part, are committed to adhere to the main principles of supporting Ukraine’s long-term sustainable economic recovery: continue to invest, accelerate the green transition, operate in accordance with international standards, implement best practices in corporate governance, and comply with all laws and regulations on sanctions.
As you know, Metinvest also cooperates with the UN Global Compact in the field of humanitarian assistance. Thus, Metinvest’s Save Lives initiative and the UN GC have created centers for psychological rehabilitation and support for Ukrainians affected by the war. The first center will open in Zaporozhye in July: Metinvest will help equip and provide premises for organizing the center, as well as attract psychologists and staff. The UN GC in Ukraine, in turn, will develop the concept and programs of psychological assistance, train psychologists and staff of the center and organize its work.
Recall that since the beginning of the war, Metinvest has sent 3.7 billion hryvnias to help the state and Ukrainians, of which more than 2 billion hryvnias have been for the needs of the army as part of Rinat’s Steel Front military initiative Akhmetov.
It was also reported that in the first quarter of 2023, Metinvest transferred more than UAH 2.5 billion of taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels in Ukraine. And in 2022, the company transferred UAH 20.5 billion to the budgets of all levels.
