We are talking about creating the necessary infrastructure to ensure further continuous supplies of Ukrainian agricultural products to Africa.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the international company Lagos Free Zone (Tolaram Group) have signed a memorandum of understanding and joint construction of a grain terminal at the port of Lekki in Nigeria. This was announced by the press service of the department on Friday, June 23.

The signing of the memorandum took place at a conference on the restoration of Ukraine in London.
“The collaboration between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the Lagos Free Zone Company will aim at creating the necessary infrastructure to ensure a further continuous supply of Ukrainian agricultural products to Nigeria and the entire African continent. In the main goal of ensuring food security in the regions that need it most,” said the first Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotsky, who signed the memorandum on behalf of the Ukrainian side.
He added that Ukraine’s agricultural sector will continue to play an important role in ensuring international food security, especially given the fact that the world’s population is growing.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy has identified the Lekki Deep Sea Port in Nigeria as the first fully automated port in the country. It is a joint project of the Government of Nigeria and the State of Lagos, the owner of the Lagos Free Zone, Tolarams Group (Singapore) and China Harbor Engineering Company (CNEC).
It can be recalled that the Foreign Ministry expects Russia to withdraw from the grain agreement in July. The terminal for the export of ammonia from Russia is almost complete, so the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline is no longer so important.
