The firing and subsequent arrest caused “profound damage” to Carlos Ghosn’s finances and reputation, the lawsuit said.

Documents filed with the Lebanese Court of Cassation stated that Ghos’ dismissal from Nissan and subsequent arrest caused “deep damage” to his finances and reputation.
“The serious accusations against me will remain in people’s memory for many years,” Ghosn said and stressed that he “will suffer from the accusations for the rest of his life, because they will have lasting consequences, although they are based only on suspicions.”
The lawsuit also contains claims against at least ten Nissan employees.
The Lebanese prosecutor has set a hearing for September.
The agency recalled that more than two decades ago, Ghosn saved Nissan from collapse, which was experiencing serious difficulties before receiving injections from French Renault. He was one of the architects of the Renault-Nissan alliance and subsequently headed both companies and the entire alliance.
One of the automotive industry’s most famous top managers was detained in Tokyo in November 2018 on charges of concealing profits and spent nearly four months in prison.
Nissan decided to fire Ghosn as chairman of the board of directors three days after his arrest, and in January 2019 he had to resign from his positions as chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Renault.
Ghosn was released on $8.9 million bail in March 2019 and fled Japan to Lebanon in December.
He denied the accusations against him and said he was the victim of a conspiracy among top Nissan managers who wanted to block the company’s merger with Renault.
