Almost all the heads of the branch of the Center for Production Support of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, who led the business since 2015 and until now, are brought to criminal liability – only eight people.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office exposed a new case of large-scale corruption in Ukrzaliznytsia, related to gas purchases worth UAH 206 million. NABU reported this on Tuesday, June 13.
It is known that within the framework of this case, four people have been identified as suspects.
The basis of the scheme is the main procurement contract, to which additional agreements are continuously signed.
“Criminal accomplices used it to avoid conducting open auctions and systematically bought gas at high prices. The price difference was distributed among the participants in the transaction,” explained anti-corruption officials.
The scheme is valid from 2016 to 2020. The investigation began in February 2020.
Almost every branch manager of the Production Assurance Center of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, who led the enterprise from 2015 until today, is now brought to criminal responsibility – only eight people. This branch conducts centralized purchasing for UZ.
“NABU has repeatedly addressed the government with recommendations to eliminate the causes and conditions that contribute to corruption in the UZ. The recommendations presented remain relevant,” said NABU.
