The state needs to introduce new energy capacities, and wind power is the fastest to build, said Alexander Podprugin.

Wind farms in Ukraine can be built quickly even in a war with Russia. Therefore, the state should extend the given technical conditions for such projects for three years, which will avoid losing time to strengthen energy security. This opinion was expressed by Alexander Podprugin, regional manager of the German company Notus Energy in Ukraine.

“It is known that many projects cannot be implemented due to a full-scale invasion. Some of these projects are already under construction,” he said.
According to Podprugin, those projects that are at a high stage of readiness should be given the opportunity to complete their construction, due to the conditions of a lack of capacities facing Ukraine, the state has to introduce new energy capacity.
“Wind power is what can be built the fastest. Wind farms are the cheapest electricity that can be built today in Ukraine. From a technical point of view, they are beneficial for the power system , because they provide a more even schedule during the day. and throughout the year, and in winter they generally produce the most,” Podprugin stressed.
He also added that the completion of new wind farms does not cost the state, since we are talking about new projects with market pricing.
“In fact, the only opportunity for Ukraine in the coming years to receive a new generation in a sufficiently large quantity is the construction of wind farms. Therefore, the technical conditions that have already been provided are 3-4 GW throughout the country – they should be continued,” said Podprugin.
The manager mentioned that this was discussed in the draft law No. 9011-d, which proposes a large number of changes in the work of the green energy industry and is generally perceived positively by market participants.
The only risk and negative side of the bill, Podprugin added, is that the approved version should conclude a new agreement for investors to connect to electric networks, while renewable energy associations suggest not to conclude a new agreement
“This can be the basis for the development of new project documentation, additional technical conditions can be presented by the operator of the transmission or distribution system. Well, it will only divert the commissioning of new projects,” the regional manager of Notus in Ukraine summed up.
Earlier, the Energy Community Secretariat assessed the draft law No. 9011-d submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on restoration and environmental reform of the energy system of Ukraine and announced its partial support.
Recall that in May a new wind power plant was launched in Ukraine, which started working in the Nikolaev region. The capacity of the first stage of the Tiligulskaya wind farm is 114 MW.
It was also reported that Ukraine could export 15 GW of clean energy. This will be a major contribution to Europe’s post-war energy security system.
