The Metinvest company announced the piracy actions of the Russian occupiers, who were taking metal products from the seized businesses and port of Mariupol. This was stated in a company statement on Friday, May 27.
“On the day the war started, the port of Mariupol had metallurgical products produced in the businesses of the Metinvest group – the Azovstal and MMK metallurgical plants named Ilyich. The specified metallurgical products were to be exported to buyers from different countries, including Spain, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Portugal and Turkey ”, the message said.
It was noted that at the time of the raid, several commercial vessels were recorded in the water area of the port: Smarta (Liberia), Azov Concord (Malta), Azburg (Dominica), Tzarevna (Malta), Blue Star I (Panama) and Lady Augusta (Jamaica), which has already loaded 28 thousand tons of metal products.
The company believes that the occupiers could use these ships to bring Metinvest’s stolen metal products to the ports of Rostov, Taganrog, Novorossiysk, Tuapse and occupied Sevastopol ”for the purpose of further illegally selling the stolen goods. product in African countries and support the policy of sanctions against the Russian Federation. “
It was noted that according to international law and legislation of Ukraine, the actions of representatives of the aggressor country have all the signs of piracy and violation of the laws and customs of war in the form of theft, which are serious international crimes.
Metinvest aims to make every possible legal effort to bring all those responsible and their accomplices to legal responsibility.
Earlier, businessman Rinat Akhmetov assured that Azovstal and Ilyich Iron and Steel Works will be restored after de-occupation, the businesses will not work for Russia.
