Budget expenditures will increase by 290 billion

Most of the additional spending will be spent on national security and defense.

The Verkhovna Rada plans to increase budget spending for 2022 by UAH 287 billion through additional external borrowing. The corresponding bill is registered on the government website.

Thus, spending is expected to increase on:

  • national security and defense – UAH 247.8 billion;

  • replenishment of reserve funds – UAH 1.5 billion;

  • assistance under the support program – UAH 5.8 billion;

  • financial support for the payment of pensions, bonuses and increases in pensions assigned under various pension programs, and the deficit of the Pension Fund – UAH 20.0 billion;

  • providing monthly targeted assistance to internally displaced persons to pay for living expenses, including housing and communal services – UAH 12.5 billion.

For the first 4 months of 2022, the state budget was executed with a deficit of UAH 146.6 billion, with the general fund with a deficit of UAH 157.2 billion, with a planned deficit for January-April in the amount of UAH 317.1 billion.

The NBU says that Ukraine will begin receiving multi-billion dollar assistance in June.
