The Energy Ministry has disputed the need to change the tariff by saying the funds are needed to restore energy infrastructure after Russia’s shelling, the sources said.
The Government of Ukraine decided to increase the electricity tariff for the population to UAH 2.64 from June 1. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine, citing sources in the Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday, May 30.
“Galushchenko (Minister of Energy German Galushchenko, – ed.) urgently introduced a resolution to raise electricity bills for the population. Now 2 UAH. 64 copies The decision was supported by the government. It should start working from June 1,” the source said.
In turn, RBC-Ukraine reports that Herman Galushchenko disputed the need to change the tariff by saying that the state needs funds to restore the energy infrastructure after Russia’s shelling.
Earlier it became known that the National Commission that regulates energy and utilities (NEURC) asked to set a slightly higher tariff – 2.88 hryvnia / kWh.
Recall that in April the Cabinet of Ministers again postponed the increase in electricity prices for the population for at least another month – until the end of May. Now the population pays UAH 1.44 per kWh if less than 250 kWh is consumed per month and UAH 1.68 per kWh if more than 250 kWh per month is consumed.
