Consumer prices for buckwheat decreased by 19.9% compared to December 2022, for beets – by 20%.
In April, in Ukraine, buckwheat and beets fell the most (compared to December 2022). This was announced by the director of the National Research Center Institute of Agrarian Economics, Yuriy Lupenko.
So, in April, nutritional prices for buckwheat decreased by 19.9% compared to December 2022, and for beets – by 20%. This is the most significant decrease in 33 food products, the monthly dynamics of consumer prices for which the State Statistics Service of Ukraine monitors.

Prices for wheat grains (-7%), eggs (-6.9%), rice (-4.9%), barley (-3.3%) and semolina (-2.9%) groats also decreased significantly . In addition, lard (-2.3%), sunflower oil (-1.8%) and wheat flour (-1%) fell in price.
Against March, prices for beets (-9.9%), eggs (-8.4%) and buckwheat (-4.2%), rice (-1.6%), sunflower oil (-1.4%), grains of wheat (-1.1%) , potatoes (-0.6%), wheat flour (-0.4%) and sugar (-0.3%). Pasta made from soft varieties of wheat, barley groats, soft fat cheese, butter and lard fell in price by 0.1-0.2%.
The leaders in consumer price growth against December 2022 in April this year were carrots (+96.5%), white cabbage (+83.5%) and onions (+72%).
At the same time, prices for apples (+18.6%), carrots (+11%), pork (+8.5%), white cabbage (+6.9%), millet (+3.3%) continued to rise in April against in March. ), infant formula (+3.1%) and beef (+2.2%). For other products, including onions, prices increased within 1-2%, and in the group of breads, for boiled sausage of the first grade and sour cream with a fat content of up to at 15% – by 0.4-0.7%.
Lupenko added that in the consumer market, under the pressure of waiting for the arrival of seasonal products, there is a visible decrease in food prices.
According to the predictive assessment of the institute’s scientists, in the near future we should expect a reduction in the cost of vegetable products, flour, cereals, eggs and dairy products.
It can be remembered that, according to the State Statistics Service, inflation slowed down significantly in April. In April, consumer price growth in Ukraine reached only 0.2% compared to 1.5% in March.
