Ukrzaliznytsia will receive $25 million from the World Bank

Ukrzaliznytsia will receive $25 million from the World Bank to restore critical rail infrastructure and increase freight traffic. This was announced on May 26 by the company’s press service.

“For the first time, we have financial support from the World Bank, and with this grant financing we expect the delivery of equipment and rolling stock already this year,” said Anton Mishin, a member of the company’s board.

Cooperation with UNOPS includes the purchase of equipment to restore critically damaged railway infrastructure.

An increase in the fleet of suitable platforms is also expected, which will help expand the possibility Ukrzaliznytsia ensure the transportation of containerized cargo, including for the transportation of humanitarian aid and the export of agricultural products.
