Since the beginning of 2022, natural gas supplies from Hungary have accounted for 46% of all imports to Ukraine.
Ukraine and Hungary have agreed to resume access to guaranteed capacity for gas imports. The agreement with the Hungarian company FGSZ expires until March 31, 2023, the GTS Operator of Ukraine reported on Thursday, May 26.
“This maintains Ukraine’s reliable access to the requested gas import route, because from the beginning of 2022, deliveries from Hungary accounted for 46% of gas imports to Ukraine, and by the end of 2021 – more than 85%, ”the report said.
It is indicated that gas traders will be able to reserve the required capacity at quarterly, monthly, daily auctions.
“OGTSU is working hard to maximize opportunities for gas imports, diversify the sources of its supplies and, accordingly, strengthen the security of supplies,” Sergey said. Makogon, CEO of GTS Operator.
As you know, the guaranteed capacity for gas supplies from Hungary started on January 1 this year.
“The project started as a three-month pilot, but the successful interaction of the two operators made it possible to extend it for more than a year,” the Ukrainian operator’s press service added.
It was learned yesterday that Gazprom has reduced payments to Ukraine for gas transit. This is due to the fact that Ukraine has stopped the transfer of natural gas to Europe through the occupied GIS Sokhranivka in the Lugansk region since May 11.
