They will provide backup power supply to more than 100,000 consumers and contribute to uninterrupted transportation of passengers and cargo.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) donated 105 diesel generators worth $2.7 million to Ukrzaliznytsia as part of the Energy Security Project. This was announced on May 16 by the company’s press service.
It is indicated that the generators will be installed at the main stations of the main routes for passenger and freight trains.
They will help Ukrzaliznytsia provide backup power supply for traction substations, railway automation and telecommunications devices and maintain uninterrupted operational and technological communication with adjacent distribution system operators.
“These generators will improve Ukrzaliznytsia’s energy by backing up power to more than 100,000 consumers and facilitating the uninterrupted transportation of passengers and cargo within Ukraine,” said US Ambassador Bridget Brink.
In total, since the beginning of the massive invasion of the Russian Federation, the US government has provided more than 3,300 generators to Ukraine.
Ukrzaliznytsia added that Ukraine’s railway network is fully integrated with the networks of neighboring countries: Belarus, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary. The generators provided by USAID will enable the smooth transportation of passengers and cargo, which is essential for strengthening the economy.
