In hot weather, difficulties with a lack of power may appear only at certain hours of the night, Andrei Gerus said.
There will be no shortage of electricity in Ukraine’s energy system during the hours of the day of peak electricity consumption in the summer. Solar energy can provide sufficient amount of generation. This was said by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, Housing and Communal Services Andriy Gerus to TSN.
The representative of the people recalled that during the hot season, the second, after winter, the highest electricity consumption, because many people use air conditioners.
“We actually have higher consumption during the day, the power plants are working, they are producing electricity, and we have peak consumption during the day, they are actually reduced because of the solar power plants, they remain some problems peak night time,” Gerus said.
According to him, the night peak of consumption should be considered the time from 15:00 to 22:00, because there is little or no sun during these times. At the same time, people returned home, turned on electrical appliances and increased consumption.
Gerus noted that in the summer, problems with the lack of electricity can only appear at certain hours of the night – between 19:00-22:30.
Remember, according to Ukrenergo, renewable energy companies helped alleviate the problem of power outages in winter and now continue to effectively support energy supply in different regions of Ukraine.
It has also been reported that Ukraine plans to become a European hub for the development of green energy, especially solar and wind generation, as well as hydrogen and bioenergy technologies.
