In the first months of this 2023, negative results for the industrial sector continue as eight out of 10 companies have failed to surpass the level of sales they had a year ago, according to an industry opinion poll. National Society of Industry (SNI).

At the same time, 35% of companies claim that they have reduced production volumes, and 48% have kept it at the same level.

According to the SNI survey, this result occurs in the context of lower demand for products, political uncertainty economic and insufficient liquidity.

“The problem of constant work stoppages, social unrest, the uncertainty that all Peruvians are exposed to, has led to a sharp drop in demand, businessmen have no one to sell. If we add to that the lack of liquidity, no. this has been a very serious problem for a long time,” said Jesús Salazar Nishi, president of SNI.

This scenario leads companies to plan less attachments and recruitment, but how much will they be reduced?

SNI shows that 73% companies In the next six months, she does not plan to hire more workers, that is, seven out of 10 companies will not create more jobs.

Respondents specify that there are no plans to hire more labor force, since the lower volume of production and sales does not prove the need to hire more workers, and also, among other things, because of the lack of budget for this.

Similarly, 60% of businesses indicate that they do not plan to implement attachments in the next six months, only 40% will continue their investment.

In the short term, in the next three months, 58% of companies do not plan to make investments, and 69% will not hire additional staff.
