The European Commission and five EU countries have agreed to ban the import of five types of agricultural products from Ukraine.
The European Commission and Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria reached an agreement banning the import of grain, corn, rapeseed, sunflower and oil from Ukraine to the markets of these countries. This was said by the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, reports Ukrinform.
“We just agreed with the European Union to ban the import of agricultural products that, first of all, led to the destabilization of the Polish market, mainly grain and corn,” he said.
Morawiecki said that he recently talked about it with the Vice President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis. According to him, an agreement between the European Commission and five EU countries on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine will be signed in the next few days.
According to RMF24, the agreement between the European Commission and five EU countries will provide that these countries will refuse to block the import of all agricultural products from Ukraine at the national level.
At the same time, the European ban will be introduced on the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed, sunflower and oil from Ukraine. The ban will apply to 90% of all Ukrainian imports.
Recall that Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria have introduced a temporary ban on the import of grain and other types of agricultural products from Ukraine. Poland even stopped the transfer of such products to its territory, but it resumed from April 21.
The European Commission has proposed an aid package for farmers from countries bordering Ukraine, including financial aid and other measures.
