In January-March of this year, the metallurgical enterprises of the countries of the world produced 348.88 million tons of pig iron, of which 322.93 million tons – by the blast-furnace method and 25.95 million tons – by direct reduction method.
These numbers are 3.09% higher than the same period last year (338.41 million tons).
Ukraine is 19th in the list of 40 pig iron producing countries. In the first quarter, it produced 1.20 million tons, or 34.26% compared to January-March 2022.
The world leader in producers of metallurgical products is China with 261.56 million tons of smelted iron and 219.83 million tons of pig iron.
