Nationally, Peruvian exports started the year poorly overall, falling 11.1% in January and 11.5% in February due to protests and weather, according to the Association of Exporters (Adex).

Less than ten years ago Peru blueberries were not exported. But the country has managed to position itself as an important player in the international market. And La Libertad leads the ranking of the regions that send this fruit abroad the most.
Of the more than $1,300 million that blueberry exports generated in 2022, about $756 million came from La Libertad.
Other products that La Libertad ships that have boosted exports: fish products such as frozen squid (187%), seaweed (101.9%) and canned fish (18.4%).
Similarly, there is also important progress in mining exports. In the first two months of 2023, the value of exports in non-metallic mining (83%), metal-mechanical (11%), textile (7%) and fishing (3%), among others. Sales of anthracite (191%) and natural calcium phosphate (94%) stood out here.
It is worth noting that another star product of La Libertad is gold. The region is one of those where more of this mineral is produced, and until last year it also led the rankings, representing more than 30% of gold production.
