National Administration of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) advised that a temporary withdrawal declaration (DST) and an affidavit of withdrawal of money and/or negotiable financial instruments (DJDS) can be obtained through ANNEX Welcome to Peru.
Temporary Departure Affidavit: used by passenger for announce in advance goods that you will take with you on your trip, such as laptops, cell phones, tablets or other items, or those that are not on the tax exempt list or exceed the amount indicated as surplus with which to purchase a similar good abroad you can enter without paying taxes.
On the other side, Affidavit of money and/or negotiable financial instruments – Departure: allows you to fulfill the obligation to declare cash when leaving the country or if you have checks, certificates, bills of exchange, among other things, for amounts exceeding 10,000 US dollars or their equivalent in national or other foreign currency.
What other services can be performed in the Welcome to Peru app?
The tool will be available 48 hours before the trip, so it is recommended to carry out the procedures in advance. When the process is completed, the declarations will be sent to the e-mail specified by the passenger, leaving a record of their presentation.
Since June 2022, Sunat has made the “Welcome to the App” app available to passengers. Peru, available 24 hours a day and accessible from a mobile phone. More than 98% of passengers who must present an affidavit of money and/or negotiable financial instruments to enter the country use this application, which simplifies their procedures and reduces service time.
The digitization of these and other processes is part of Sunat’s digital transformation strategy, which aims to simplify and reduce the cost of tax and customs compliance for taxpayers, foreign traders and citizens in general.
