Joint thematic programs for the restoration of Ukraine have been activated, the prime minister said.
The World Bank will be one of the main partners in the reconstruction of Ukraine and will finance at least three major projects. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram on Tuesday, April 18.
According to him, there is already an agreement with the World Bank to activate joint thematic programs for the restoration of Ukraine, which will be launched today:
-
in the energy sector, the $500 million Re-Power project;
-
in the field of transportation infrastructure – RELINC for $585 million;
-
in healthcare – Heal Ukraine for $368 million.
“In addition, within the framework of the Special Program for Addressing the Challenges and for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, we will attract an additional $6 billion from the IBRD,” the prime minister said.
According to him, these funds will be used to restore critical, social and transportation infrastructure. The authorities are waiting for the approval of the program and its launch this year.
Earlier, the World Bank estimated the recovery of the Ukrainian economy at $411 billion. And then Shmyhal considered that this amount does not include the loss of infrastructure, housing and business in the occupied territories.
