Algerian Sonatrach drilled six new oil and gas wells in the first quarter of this year. This was announced on April 11 by the press service of the state oil and gas company.
Two wells were discovered in the Amguid-Messaoud basin in Ouargla province, and two more in the Berkine basin in eastern Algeria.
A gas condensate field was also discovered in the Illizi province basin and an oil and gas field in the Wadi Miya basin.
“These discoveries illustrate the relevance of the efforts carried out by SONATRACH in terms of the exploration and renewal of hydrocarbon reserves, and show the attractiveness of the Algerian mining sector,” the statement said .
Remember that Sonatrach was founded in 1963. It is the largest Algerian company and one of the leaders in the hydrocarbon market in Africa and the Mediterranean region.
Sonatrach’s export revenue in 2022 will be $60 billion, investments will reach $5.5 billion.
