The Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Poland proposed to introduce duties on all agricultural products from Ukraine.
Grain imports from Ukraine to Poland are temporarily suspended until July. This was said by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Poland Janusz Kowalski, TVP Info TV channel reported the day before.
“The European Union did nothing to help Polish farmers, and the effectiveness of the actions of Mr. Robert Telus, the new minister (of agriculture – ed.), in the first hours, with the support of both the prime minister and president , which is also the result of negotiations with President Zelensky showed that we are able to negotiate with Ukraine and suspend imports until at least July,” he said.
Kowalski believes that the first step in resolving the situation should be a Polish-Ukrainian grain agreement. He proposes to introduce duties on all agricultural products from Ukraine.
“We help Ukraine, but we must be a transit country. All products must be sent through Poland, they must not harm Polish farmers, Polish producers and cause a security crisis of food,” the official said.
Remember, April 7, it became known that Ukraine will suspend grain exports to Poland. In the future, it can only be carried out with the permission of the Polish side, and its procedure will be discussed.
The said agreement was reached by the relevant ministers of the two countries against the backdrop of protests by Polish farmers over the import of grain from Ukraine.
