Economist Pedro Grados Smith explained how ordinary citizens will be affected by the fact that The World Bank Peru’s GDP is forecast to grow by 2.4%.

“Concretely, this will mean less employment than expected, less income and therefore less tax collection, less opportunity for subsidies, which, as we have always said, if well targeted and temporary, they should not cause problems,” he said. said in Air Rotary.

However, Peter Grades Smith He clarified that the World Bank’s forecast “in a positive way” is a warning that “we are not doing things the right way.”

“With a growth of 2.4%, we are not absorbing the amount of youth employment that is generated from year to year, and we are not ensuring the dynamics or attractiveness of private investment. Today, some newspapers mention that private investment could be reduced by 10%. If we had growth of 2.4% one of the factors is precisely the reduction in private investment in previous years. These are expectations because we, as Peruvians, must be able to reach an agreement and create adequate conditions for a large investor, as well as encourage a small investor to open a shop,” he said.

National Infrastructure Administration?

With regard to the proposal to establish a National Infrastructure Authority, Peter Grades Smith He argued that his job required “a career line, meritocracy, experience, and centralization of functions”.

“Why do we think the establishment of the National Infrastructure Authority is important? Firstly, because today there are 2000 executive units and they are not necessarily integrated in any way (…) This body would be responsible for all projects over 200 million salts and would assume in some way absorbing functions that already have ministries,” he said.

Peter Grades Smith He argued that corruption in the National Infrastructure Authority could be avoided as control would be centralized.

“And finally, since we have a high probability of an El Niño event next year, we need to centralize these functions and speed up the work,” he said.
