The installation of a gas pipeline from the Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea to a land point has been completed.
Turkey has completed the construction of a gas pipeline connecting the Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea with an onshore distribution terminal. This was announced by the state pipeline company TPAO on Facebook.
“The installation of pipes connecting our gas field in Sakarya to the land terminal has been successfully completed,” the message said.
It is expected that on April 20, gas from Sakarya will start flowing into the Turkish gas transmission system.
Türkiye is currently dependent on imported gas supplies. In 2021, about 45% of Turkey’s gas will come from Russia, the rest from Iran and Azerbaijan.
It will be remembered that earlier in Turkey, another gas field was discovered in the Black Sea. The amount of natural gas in the new field is estimated at 58 billion cubic meters.
