The money should help Ukraine meet its urgent financial needs amid the ongoing war.
Ukraine received the first tranche from the IMF under the new extended financing program. This is 2 billion special drawing rights, or about $2.7 billion, National Bank head Andriy Pyshny said on Facebook on Monday, April 3.
“Thank you to the partners for the quick help and we are actively working to successfully pass the first evaluation of the program and receive the next tranche from the IMF,” Pyshny wrote.
As you know, on March 31, the IMF board approved a four-year loan to Ukraine in the amount of $ 15.6 billion. The money should help Ukraine meet its urgent financial needs amid the ongoing war. This is the first major loan approved by the IMF for a country in active conflict.
It was also learned about Ukraine’s obligations to the IMF under the new loan program.
