The state budget of Ukraine received a concessional loan from Canada in the amount of 2.4 billion Canadian dollars ($1.8 billion). This was announced by the Ministry of Finance on Friday, March 31.
It is indicated that these funds were provided through the IMF’s administrative account mechanism.
“Canada has once again shown that it is a reliable partner of Ukraine – today we received 2.4 billion Canadian dollars, which will be used mainly to finance priority expenditures in the state budget,” said Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko .
According to him, these funds will help support Ukrainians in war conditions and bring victory against Russia closer.
The additional loan is provided for 10 years at an interest rate of 1.5% per annum.
Recall that this week the United States transferred a $1.25 billion grant to Ukraine. Since the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, American aid giving has reached $15.5 billion.
A week ago, it was reported that the European Union transferred to Ukraine the second tranche of macro-financial assistance for 1.5 billion euros from a package totaling 18 billion euros.
