Uber and Bolt pay “Google tax”

At the beginning of 2023, 86 non-resident companies providing their online services in Ukraine will pay tax.

Taxi booking services Uber and Bolt are subject to value-added tax on e-service transactions (“Google tax”) in 2023. This was announced on Thursday, March 30, by the head of the parliamentary committee on taxes and finance, Daniil Getmantsev, on Telegram.

According to him, since the beginning of the year, international companies have paid “Google tax” to the state budget of Ukraine UAH 1.9 billion.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, tax collection also reached a total of UAH 1.9 billion ($52.1 million), up by UAH 400 million ($12.1 million) from the previous quarter.

The largest taxpayers for the specified period are Google.Play, Apple, Google, Valvesoftware, Playstation, Netflix and Etsy.

In total, in 2022, Ukraine collected 4.3 billion hryvnias “Google tax”.

At the beginning of the year, this tax was paid by 86 non-resident companies providing their online services in Ukraine.

It will be remembered that on June 28, 2021, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law according to which foreign global technology giants such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Netflix and others will pay 20% VAT in Ukraine.
