The RBI CEO said the bank cannot “immediately curtail all operations” in Russia, but will try to resolve the issue.
Austrian bank Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) is looking to sell or spin off its Russian subsidiary, Raiffeisenbank. The bank’s press service reported this on Thursday, March 30.
“In order to maintain the license, we will continue some banking activities in the Russian Federation. We cannot stop all operations immediately. We will look for a possible sale or spin-off of the business in Russia,” said RBI CEO Johann Strobl.
According to him, the RBI has received an offer for a possible asset swap from Sberbank Europe. However, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation said that they have not received any requests in this regard.
Recall that the European Central Bank requested that Raiffeisen Bank International withdraw from Russia.
