South Korean company Hyundai and its subsidiary Kia are recalling more than 570,000 vehicles sold in the United States due to the threat of a short circuit. This was reported on March 24 by the Yonhap agency.
According to a filing with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a faulty towbar can cause short circuits and fires due to dust or water ingress.
It was noted that the defect was found in the models of Hyundai Santa Cruz 2022 and 2023, Hyundai Santa Fe (2019-2023), Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid (2021-2023), Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid (2022-2023) and Kia Carnival (2022-2023).
Owners of these models are advised not to park them indoors.
